Notes from the Garden: November 2014

The children were great this month, helping to tidy up the garden before Minister for Education & Skills, Jan O' Sullivan T.D. visited the school. They swept up the leaves, pulled weeds and even painted the tyres in the vegetable corner. Thanks to all that helped.

This month the Garden Committee did a big tidy up of the beds in the front and back of the school and planted many heather and lavender plants in pots around the new patio area.

1st and 2nd classes planted two apple trees and two berry trees in our fruit corner. They were very interested in the fact that two types of apple trees were grafted into one tree so we can enjoy our apples even more when it's harvest time.

5th and 6th classes planted bulbs in the shape of Star of David which we will enjoy in Spring time when they bloom.

Next month, the Garden Committee are doing Christmas wreaths with 5th and 6th classes.
